In the 60 years of the twentieth century at Historical faculty of the University the Department of Philosophy was organized. And in 1979 was organized by the Philosophical-economic faculty. Organization, Philosophical-economic faculty was yet 

another confirmation of the necessity to develop youth philosophical worldview

At the faculty special attention was paid to the development not only of the educational process and research work. At this time there were founded scientific schools such as "Socio-cultural foundations of society," "Ontology and theory of cognition", "Islamic religion and culture".

In 2015 the faculty of Philosophy was reorganized into the faculty of “Social Sciences”. Currently, the

faculty of “Social Sciences” is one of the leading faculties for the training of highly qualified personnel.




DEPARTMENTS:


ACTIVITIES OF THE DEPARTMENTS

The department of "Ethics and aesthetics" was formed in 1986, carries out preparation of bachelors and masters degree in "Ethics and aesthetics".

The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "Theoretical foundations of ethics and aesthetics".

The Department "Philosophy of logic" was established in 1965, prepares bachelors in Philosophy and masters on a speciality "philosophy History", "Philosophy", as well as research fellows and researchers in the specialty 09.00.01 "Ontology and epistemology", "Ontology, gnoseology and logic". The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "Logical doctrines of the thinkers of Asia and modernity", "Theoretical questions of philosophy".

The Department of "Bases of spirituality and religious studies" was founded in 2005. The Department provides teaching for the interfaculty directions of bachelors and masters. The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "Spiritual, cultural and religious values and modernity".

The Department of "Pedagogy" was founded in 2006. The Department provides teaching for the interfaculty directions of bachelors and masters. The faculty of the Department conducts research work on the subject "basics of pedagogy and General psychology".

The Department of Psychology was founded in 1976. The Department is responsible for the prepara

tion of bachelors on direction "Psychology" and masters on specialty "Psychology". The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "health Psychology".

The Department "Sociology and social work" was formed in 2010. The Department is respon

sible for the preparation of bachelors in the direction "Sociology" and "Social work" and for the master degree in "Sociology" and "Social work". The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "Methods of sociological research".

The Department of "Theory and practice of building a democratic state and civil society" was founded in 2007. The Department provides teaching for the interfaculty directions of bachelors and masters. The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "the Concept of further deepening democratic reforms and development of civil society in the country". 

The Department of "Legal disciplines" was established in 1998. The Department provides teaching for the interfaculty bachelor programs. The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "Constitutional foundations of public administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

The Department of "The national idea" was founded in 2004. The Department provides teaching for the interfaculty bachelor programs, and is for bachelors in the direction "national idea, bases of spirituality and law education" and masters on the specialty "Methods of teaching social and humanitarian disciplines (creation spirituality)". The faculty of the Department conducts research work on "Improving technology of propaganda of national ideas".

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Faculty of Social Sciences are actively cooperating with the Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov, St. Petersburg state University, Belarusian state University, National University of Kazakhstan, University "Constantine the Philosopher", Nitra, with the Foundation of the Erasmus Mundus programme of the European Union, with the Foundation funding international cooperation in higher education and research (Sweden)- STINIT, with the French research Institute for the study of Central Asia, IFEAC. Teaching staff of the faculty regularly participate in research projects and STINIT IFEAC, to deliver scientific reports and articles in international scientific conferences and are leaders of international TEMPUS ERASMUS grant, members of the international expert Commission SIDA in Sweden for the Humanities and the network of "Women philosophers" by UNESCO.
