Department of ethics and aesthetics

The Department of Ethics and Aesthetics is the only department among the higher educational institutions of Central Asia, which pays special attention to the training of modern specialists based on ethical and aesthetic criteria, as well as the education of young people as harmoniously developed personalities.

Ethics and aesthetics have always served for the development of humanity, society and government. Philosophers, literary critics and art historians have played a major role in developing these subjects. Considering the demand for these fields in our country, in 1986 the interfaculty Department of “Ethics and Aesthetics” was founded in the Tashkent State University.

For more than thirty years, the department was headed by PhD. (Philology) Docent H.Rasulov (1986-1988), then Doctor of Science (Philosophy), Prof. M.Nurmatov (1988-1993), PhD. (Philosophy) Docent I.Ergashev (1993-1994), PhD. (Philology) and a People’s Writer of Uzbekistan Muhammad Ali (1994-1996), Docent Abdulla Sher (1996-1997), Doctor of Science (Philosophy), Prof. E.Umarov (1997-2002), Docent Abdulla Sher (2004-2005), Doctor of Science (Philosophy) O.Kurbanmamadov (2005-2006), PhD. (Philosophy), Docent Bakhodir Husanov (2006-2017). Since 2017, the department have been headed by PhD. (Philosophy), Prof. Lalihon Mukhammadjonova.

In the years of independence, the lecturers of the department were granted for numerous awards. Particularly, in March, 2000, Abdulla Sher was awarded “the best textbook of the year” for his ‘Axloqshunoslik” (“Ethics”), “Excellence in Higher Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan” Badge, and in August, 1992, Lalihon Mukhammadjanova was awarded “Independence of Uzbekistan: 1 year” badge, in March, 2000, “Excellence in Higher Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan” Badge, in March, 2006, “Excellence in Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan” badge, in August, 2011, “Independence of Uzbekistan: 20 year” badge, in August, 2012, Certificate of honor of “The best higher institution women’s committee”, in November, 2013, Certificate of honor of “The most active spiritual propagandist of the year”, Bahodir Husanov was awarded in August, 2016, “Independence of Uzbekistan: 20 year” badge.

Today, the department has 1 professor, 2 candidates of sciences, docents, 2 senior teachers and 4 teachers.

The Department of Ethics and Aesthetics is the basic department in the field of these areas in the republic. Currently, there is a master‘s degree 5A120503 "Ethics and Aesthetics", where gifted students are accepted and 10 masters are studying in this specialization now.

Much attention is paid to teaching subjects based on modern pedagogical technologies. Today, the department teaches 7 subjects in the Bachelor’s Degree and 7 subjects in the Magistracy. In particular:

Over the past 2 years, the teachers of the department have published 2 textbooks: "Rhetoric" by L.Mukhammedzhanova, "Philosophy" co-authored by L.Mukhammedzhanova, D.Kadirova and others, 3 textbooks: "Ethics" by N.Agzamov, co-authored with Professor M.Kakhkharova, "Philosophy" in co-authorship with L.Mukhammedzhanova, B.Khusanov and others, "Aesthetics: a dictionary of basic concepts", 4 methodical manuals: "Ethical culture of civil servants" by L.Mukhammedzhanova, "Foundations of a healthy family" by L.Mukhammedzhanova co-authored with L.Abdukadirova, "Aesthetic education: essence, meaning, necessity" by B.Khusanov and "Art and aesthetic education" by D.Kadyrova.

The scientific and pedagogical activity of the members of the department is closely connected with modern scientific research in the field of ethics and aesthetics.Currently, 5 base doctoral students and 5 independent researchers are conducting scientific research in the specialty 09.00.02 - Philosophy of Consciousness, Culture and Practice at the department. The department regularly conducts theoretical seminars, which discuss the problems of ethics and aesthetics. To date, our basic doctoral students and independent researchers have conducted a number of research papers and defended their dissertations in conjunction with aesthetics and its field, ethics and its modern teachings, culture and its universal principles. On July 20, 2017, Bakhranov Laziz Erkinovich, who conducted scientific research as a senior scientific researcher in 2014-2016, defended the dissertation of the doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in philosophy on the theme "Scientific-rational aspects of art criticism and its reflection in fine arts" on the specialty of 09.00.02 - Philosophy of Consciousness, Culture and Practice. On September 29, 2017, Zamilova Rimma Ramilovna, who conducted scientific research as an independent researcher in 2014-2016, defended the dissertation of the doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in philosophy on the theme "Heroes and the heroic: their permanent influence on the formation of personality" on the specialty of 09.00.02 - Philosophy of Consciousness, Culture and Practice. On December 15, 2017, Usmonov Kamol Khoshimovich, who conducted scientific research as an independent researcher in 2014-2016, defended the dissertation of the doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in philosophy on the theme "Interpretation of the ideas of military patriotism in the spiritual and moral heritage of the Uzbek people" on the specialty of 09.00.02 - Philosophy of Consciousness, Culture and Practice.

The department also participates in research projects. In 2017-2018 she participated in the OT-A1-98 grant project "National foundations of aesthetic education in the process of reforming and modernizing society". Within the framework of the National Competition for Innovative Research for 4 months of 2018-2019, the department won the project "Ethics and image of civil servants in improving the system of state and society construction" under the leadership of L. Muhammedjanova.
