The significance of the conference devoted to topical issues of regional interconnectedness of Central and South Asia

International Conference " Central and South Asia: Regional Interconnectedness. Challenges and Opportunities", initiated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev, was aimed at forming an expert platform for discussing areas of cooperation and interaction between Central and South Asia. Within the framework of the conference, three main areas of regional and interregional cooperation were discussed: issues of trade and transport interconnectedness and ways to solve them for the sustainable growth of the countries of the two regions; issues of cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries of the two regions and their intensification; security issues. On the eve of the conference, another significant event took place – the official opening of the International Institute of Central Asia.

The conference became a really large-scale event. It was attended by two high-level and high-level delegations, 15 parliamentary delegations, about 50 delegations of the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries, about 200 representatives ofbusiness and expert circles from 44 countries of the world.

Participation in such events is extremely important for experts and specialists, and I am glad that I was not only invited to participate in this conference, but also had the opportunity to share my ideas on regional security in Central Asia with my colleagues and discuss them. It is especially pleasant that the meeting was held in Tashkent – my native city, where I was not only born, but also received an education and began my career.

I take this opportunity to thank my alma mater-the National University of Uzbekistan (formerly Tashkent State University), where I studied at the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Philosophy and Economics. We all remember with joy the student years – the years of the brightest hopes and broad opportunities. My studies, and I graduated from the university in 1991, fell on the perestroika time, when, on the one hand, uncertainty was growing, and on the other hand, new, extraordinary opportunities opened up before us. And the great merit of the university and our professors is that they did not limit our freedom both in scientific search and in finding our place in life, helping us to find the way to the fullest possible self-realization. Graduates of my course can be found in different parts of the World, in different countries – in Russia, the USA, Israel, the UK, the Philippines, and all of them, thanks to their broad erudition, analytical thinking and freedom of views, which they studied at the National University of Uzbekistan, found their place in life.

Today, the National University of Uzbekistan has retained its status and is confidently entering the world educational space. The University provided the basis for the formation of a whole complex of scientific schools: in mathematics, nuclear physics, organic chemistry. Schools that have their own traditions, successes and world recognition. Of course, the most interesting and important for me are the achievements of the university in the development of philosophical research associated with the names of such thinkers as L. E. Garber, V. N. Moroz, V. G. Chernik, K. I. Ivanov and many others, from whom I was lucky to study. Currently, these studies are being continued by a new generation of scientists - graduates of the Faculty of Philosophy and Economics, such as N. Shermukhamedova, A. Utamurodov, L. Mukhammadzhonova, M. Ganieva, A. Holbekov and many others. I am sure that in the future we will also hear the names of new scientists-philosophers who are now probably just starting their studies at the National University of Uzbekistan.
